ARCH 2020: Foundation Studio III - Spring 2014
This project is located on the waterfront of the James River in Lynchburg, Virginia. We want to find a solution to revive Lynchburg's waterfront through the creation of a pool park. This new pool park deals with environmental conditions of the city which includes the flooding of the riverfront. "Raising Waters" proposes a double level pool park in order for it to be occupied during both high and low tides. The pools located on the river to allow people to connect to their environment, are raised during high tides. The main means of transportation within this pool park is the use of barges that float on the water. This park allows for the revival of the waterfront by connecting the people of Lynchburg to the river but also the river to the city itself.
